A new study says Japanese universities spend more money studying abroad in the United States than in other countries.
The study by research firm Kanto Research surveyed more than 5,000 American college students.
Among the findings: Japan’s public universities spend the most money on abroad studies, at $1,721 per student compared to $827 in the rest of the world.
The biggest spenders are public universities in the states of California and New York.
In fact, the top five states for studying abroad are all in the Midwest.
